I added texture (the stripey line thingies) to the headers because I thought they looked a bit plain without it, but can be removed. Also, text can be edited/added etc.
I got the 'Japan' map (on the right hand side) from Wikipedia, and it shows the countries on a globe so it looks a bit skewed but I thought it was alright.

To display the image it
To display the image it seems you have to use Create Image at the top level of the group.
I like the pink one best, but again we should try make one with a blue background. Of course if Clay sets up the site to let users choose their favorite theme then more of these ideas can be worked on and improved.

I really like them all. They look really good. I personally prefer the third one, but I think the second looks super cool too. I like the image in the first, but can't get along with that green. =P
I really really like them though. Would look pretty cool up in the header. Don't you have a image that can be used with blue? I don't think the contrast from the side bars to the header would look too good (that's why the second one is pretty awesome, looks cool with the top bar).
