The Miffing Continues...

I got a call from Joe in Australia this morning around 5ish. He had tried (once again) to import the users who hadn't made a post on the old server. All users who have had at least one post have been moved, but the rest will have to be moved separately.

He has tried on multiple occasions to add them to the database but each time the database crashes. 1and1 (the hosting company) supposedly moved this issue up to the 'highest priority' yesterday morning. But it still isn't fixed.

I am still a bit miffed.

Looking at my phone records, I called 1and1 a total of 10 times yesterday. While I understand I can't talk to the 'highest priority' techs directly, I have yet to receive any email from them explaining what has happened and what they are doing about it.

I have had a love-hate relationship with 1and1. On one hand they are inexpensive (not cheap, though) and fairly reliable. Minor problems are taken care of promptly--phone support can reboot servers. But I have had trouble like this with two of my servers--trouble where there was an ongoing problem that didn't get addressed until after much complaining.
