how do you pronounce

how do you pronounce "Hoshii" "ほしい", since star has the same pronounciation, is it one of those words which its meaning is decided within its context?

It's not the same

It's not the same pronounciation. There's an extra い that you need to pronounce in ほしい. It's just like いえ and いいえ in one of the first hiragana pages.
