Meaning: hundred

Stroke Order:

One hundred has a one (一) at top.

Examples:
二百 ni hyaku – 200
三百 san byaku – 300 [note: sound changes to a harder “b” sound]

Example Sentence:
ええと、百人くらいきました。
eeto, hyakunin kurai kimashita.
Let’s see… About a hundred people came.

[eeto is often heard in spoken Japanese similar to our “umm.”]

Why does it change sometimes to “byaku”?
