The usual word for “sun” is 太陽 taiyou.

Stroke Order:

Examples:
ある日 aru hi – one day (as in: One day, Little Red Riding Hood…)
毎日 mai nichi – everyday
今日 kyou – today [irregular pronunciation]
日曜日 nichi you bi – Sunday

Example Sentence:
毎日、日本語を勉強します。
mainichi, nihongo o benkyou shimasu.
Everyday I study Japanese.
