ABOUT:
■ Doing this, doing that, etc. This is for when you want to express a series of actions or states, but not list all possible actions or states. "Do things like … and … etc."
HOW to use:
Take the た form of a verb (simple past) or adjective and り.
■ Here is how a verb is constructed:
立つ to stand

立った stood (simple past)
9 立ったり things like standing…
■ Here is how an adjective is constructed:
高い expensive
9 高かった was expensive
9 高かったり was expensive and…
EXAMPLE:
立ったり、座ったり。
Things like standing and sitting
ドルが上がったり、下がったりする。
The dollar is just rising and falling.
今日は、買い物をしたり、レストランで食べたり
して、たくさんのお金を使った。
Today, I went shopping and ate at a restaurant, etc; I used a lot of money.
