JLPT N4 Grammar: Mama まま Conditions don’t change

まま without change

doesn't change; without change; continuing the same state

■  Noun + の + まま
    (くつ)のまま (keeping shoes on)

■  Verb (past/た form) + まま
    (くつ)をはいたまま (still wearing shoes)

■  Verb (negative ない form) + まま
  (くつ)をはかないまま (still not wearing shoes)

■  -na Adjectives + な + まま
  不便(ふべん)なまま (still inconvenient)

■  -i Adjectives + まま
  あたたかいまま (still warm)

例文(れいぶん) EXAMPLE SENTENCE

(くつ)をはいたままどうぞ。

shoes-(direct object)-enter-without change-please go ahead

COMMENTS

■  You'll hear this all the time with demonstratives:

     このまま | そのまま | あのまま

These all mean "as it is," "as things are," or "without change." Basically the この expresses ideas and objects that are near the speaker, その are for things or ideas nearby, and あの are for distant objects or thoughts.

Another somewhat idiomatic usage is the word: わがまま (selfish; egoist) which literally means "oneself + without change."
