This form of asking the quantity of something is used for asking generally "how many?" and also "how old?" residence

今年(ことし)いくつになりますか?
How old will you be this year?

(あめ)は、いくつありますか?
How much candy do (you) have?

Other Forms:

■ いくつも many; plenty

 9  (そら)には、いくつも (ほし)があります。 There are many stars in the sky.
