Grammar Notes:
■ The adverbs はやく (early) and おそく (late) can be added to time nouns. You will often hear these:
- あさ はやく early in the morning
- よる おそく late at night
- 毎あさ はやく early every morning
- 毎ばん おそく late every evening

- 今日 today [literally, "now day"]
- と and
- 明日 tomorrow [明 (bright; light) + 日 (day; sun)]
- 学校 school [学 (study; learning) + 校 (school)]
- 休み break (from school); rest; vacation [from 休む (rest; day off)]

- こうえん (public) park [kanji: 公園]
- 行きます to go [dictionary form: 行く (to go)]
- 山 mountain
- あさ morning
- はやく early; soon [this also can mean “quickly” or “fast”]
- あさ はやく early in the morning
- おきて wake up and [from 起きる (to get up); the て form makes it into a conjunction]
- といっしょに together with [the person you are together with (in this case, a friend) is placed before the と]
- のぼります climb (mountain) [kanji: 登る (to climb; to ascend; to hike)]
- 今夜 this evening [今 (now) + 夜 (evening; night)]
- ねます sleep [kanji: 寝る (to sleep)]
Answers:
1) A – John's day off is today and tomorrow.
2) C – He will climb a mountain tomorrow.
